I don’t know about you but sometimes the real meaning of Easter gets lost in a flurry of baskets, bunnies, bows, and gifts. I am determined to keep Jesus the focus – no more bunny overload! If you feel like me (hey there fellow moms!) then here are three activities we have started doing that help us get our priorities straight: some fun and simple activities that are Christ focused!
Resurrection Eggs
This activity was new to us last year and our kids loved it. Resurrection Eggs are like an advent calendar but instead of counting down to Christmas you count down to Easter. Each day you open an egg that has a short bible verse and a special item that goes along with the verse. The days tell the story of Jesus death and the resurrection. I found it charmingly simple and beautiful – something that not only keeps kids engaged in their faith during Easter, but adults too. Who knew you could stuff so much meaning into such small little eggs?
Materials:
- Empty egg carton
- 12 plastic eggs
- 11 story starters
Resurrection Rolls
Resurrection Rolls were an absolute hit in our house! We made them twice because we simply couldn’t get enough – they’re so easy, delicious and make for a great conversation starter about Jesus’ story. What more could you want?
Empty Easter Egg
Easter is an egg-cellent opportunity to talk about the hope that Jesus brings! This is the simplest idea of all! Every year when the kids do their Easter Egg hunt, we make sure to leave at least one egg empty. The kids are always so disappointed at first when they open that empty egg, but you can use this as an opening for discussing how amazing our savior is and why He left such a powerful legacy with His empty tomb.

Easter is about so much more than bunnies and baskets, yet it’s easy to get caught up in that side of the holiday. Let’s try to focus on Jesus’ resurrection and his symbolic gift to all of us that is so appreciated; one activity at a time!
